NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF CITY OF OSSEO & TOWN OF SUMNER

The salvage dumpster will arrive at the Osseo Area Recycling Center on Saturday, April 9th . Items will be accepted during regular business hours ONLY and a fee charged per item. The Osseo Area Recycling Center will also begin accepting white goods (appliances) and electronics as of Saturday, April 9th during regular business hours. A price listing is available at the center, Osseo City Hall, or online at www.cityofosseo.us. Anyone caught dumping outside of posted hours will be fined. View the recycling price list.

ALUMINUM - Aluminum should be empty and rinsed out as sugar in pop cans can attract insects. Aluminum cans should be separated from steel cans. Foil is accepted in a separate container.

TIN CANS - Tin cans or bi-metal cans should be washed out.

NEWSPAPERS - Newspapers should be bundled in brown paper bags or tied tightly with string. Please, no magazines, phone books, trash, or plastic bags. Normal slick ads (sale flyers) can remain with newspapers.

MAGAZINES - Magazines are not accepted.

CARDBOARD - No waxed or flat cardboard to be included (ex: cereal boxes, pop or beer cases etc). Please remove all plastic styrofoam or any other material such as wood from cardboard. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD ONLY.

GLASS - Please remove all rings, caps, lids, covers or any other metal or plastic. Labels can remain on. Acceptable items are soda bottles, beer bottles, juice containers, ketchup bottles, wine & liquor bottles, and food containers. Not accepted are crystal, light bulbs, ceramic cups & plates, drinking glasses, mirror and window glass.

PLASTIC BAGS - Plastic bags such as shopping bags, milk bags, bread bags etc. are NOT accepted.

PLASTIC 

HDPE #2 – Natural: Milk jugs, any other necked bottles. Do NOT include round containers such as one gallon salad dressing jars.

HDPE #2 – Colored: Detergent bottles, bleach bottles, etc. Please do NOT include butter tubs, cool whip containers, etc.

PETE #1 – This includes pop bottles and any other necked bottles made of #1 PETE plastics.

ALL PLASTIC CONTAINERS MUST BE FREE OF CAPS, LIDS, METAL, FOIL, AND DIRT. ALL CONTAINERS MUST BE RINSED AND THOROUGHLY DRAINED.

THE TRIANGLE WITH ARROWS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CONTAINER DOES NOT INDICATE IT’S RECYCLABLE. IT IS AN IDENTIFICATION SYMBOL ONLY. PLEASE LOOK AT THE NUMBER INSIDE THE TRIANGLE FOR RECYCLING PURPOSES. Labels may remain on containers.

Our recycling center is located next to our city shop and is open to all City of Osseo and Town of Sumner residents. The drop off site is easily accessible and accepts a wide variety of recyclables. See our “Recycling Guidelines” for information on how and what to recycle.

In April, we begin accepting “white goods” or household appliances along with electronics such as televisions, VCR’s, computers and monitors. The salvage dumpster also arrives in April for non-recyclable/non-hazardous materials such as furniture, mattresses, sinks, toilets and miscellaneous junk. Please refer to our “price list”

Hours of Operation

Tuesdays - 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Thursdays - 2 - 5 p.m.
Saturdays - 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Items may ONLY be dropped off during regular hours of operation.

Anyone caught dumping illegally shall be fined.
